La Grange de Gustou is a beautifully restored former cattle barn located at
1000 m altitude on a south-facing ridge.
Its exceptional position offers a truly remarkable panoramic view:
– Below: the peaceful Garbet Valley and the village of Ercé.
– Above: the rugged beauty of the highest peaks of Ariège.
The name “Gustou” comes from the shepherd who lived here and worked these fertile pastures throughout his life. Built in granite, wood and slate, the barn has preserved its authentic charm, while the added terrace and veranda allow guests to enjoy the view all year long.
For those seeking peace and quiet, it is a true mountain paradise. The surroundings consist of forests, meadows and open mountains — no neighbours, no noise, only the sound of the small waterfall feeding the pond and the distant bells of grazing cows.
Located in the heart of the Ariège Pyrenees Regional Natural Park, the lodge is 120 km from
Toulouse or Carcassonne airports (about 1h30 via Saint-Girons, Oust and Ercé).
It sits 2 km above Ercé, accessible by a winding road; the last kilometre is unpaved but
drivable.
Here, the air is exceptionally pure, and the water comes directly from the mountain springs.
WARNING: a small, unfenced pond is located in front of the house.
Children who cannot swim must be supervised.
