La Grange de Gustou is a fully restored former cowshed, perched at 1000 meters above sea level on a south-facing promontory. Its exceptional location offers a spectacular panorama:
– Below: the peaceful Garbet Valley, its quiet meadows and the village of Ercé.
– Above: the wild beauty of the highest peaks of Ariège.
The name "Gustou" pays tribute to the former shepherd who once lived here and raised his cattle in these rich, sunlit pastures. Built of granite, wood and slate, the barn has preserved its original charm, while the terrace and veranda were added to allow guests to enjoy the view at any time of day and in every season.
For lovers of peace and quiet, this is a true isolated paradise. Around the barn: mountains, forests, pastures, silence… No neighbors, no noise, except for the waterfall feeding the small lake and the gentle sound of cowbells.
Located in the heart of the Regional Natural Park of the Ariège Pyrenees, the cottage is 120 km from Toulouse and Carcassonne airports (about 1h30 via Saint-Girons, Oust and Ercé). Just 2 km from the village of Ercé, access is via a winding mountain road.
Here, the air is exceptionally pure and we drink clear water flowing directly from the mountain.
WARNING: a small unfenced lake is located in front of the house, fed by a cascading stream. It is recommended to closely supervise young children.
